5 Yard Kilt For 24" - 27.5" Hip - Youth
A 5 yard Highland Dancing kilt crafted in the traditional Scottish style by a highly silled team of kiltmakers here in Scotland. Using your choice of our exclusive tartan cloth milled in Scotland using the finest 100% wool.
The 5 yard kilt is suitable for dancers measuring between a 24" - 27.5 "hip. Kilts are made with extra deep pleats, growth pleat, and hem for growth. Our kilts contain more fabric at a lower cost!
Why is there more fabric in a Highland In Style Kilt?
- Our kilts have pleats measuring 5/8th of an inch, other kiltmakers use pleats as large as 1". A 5/8th inch pleat means you get MORE pleats, which results in MORE 'fling', also known as the swing of the kilt when dancing.
- Extra fabric incorporated into the front apron means the kilt can be easily altered as the dancer grows and changes shape, so the kilt will last longer.

Measuring Guidelines:
Hips - This is around the widest part of the hips / bum. Do not pull the tape measure too tight or leave too loose. Your dancer should be able to place 2 fingers between their hips and the tape measure (like tucking in a shirt) in order to allow for some ease of movement in the finished kilt.
Waist - This is around the natural waist. This point is typically above or around the belly button where if your dancer bends their body to the side (while singing "I'm a little teacup") the natural waist is where the skin folds and body bends.
Length - This is the finished length of the kilt from top to bottom. For this measurement we ask for a waist to top of kneecap. This is your preference to decide how long you would like your kilt. Your kilt will be made to this measurement from top to bottom.
Investing in a kilt is a big decision, and you want it to be just right. Use a proper tape measure (you would be amazed what we've seen being used), have your dancer raise and lower their arms while confirming measurements. Ask your teacher or other experienced dancer / parent to assist you.
